Founded by Nissa Wegienek in New York City in 2008, Nissa Jewelry is vintage inspired goodness with a modern twist. The collection offers bold and versatile designs, taking inspiration from forgotten vintage pieces and updating them in creative, modern, unexpected, feminine ways. Inspired by the jewels' history, Nissa redesigns each piece, preserving its original qualities. Recycled metal and materials are integrated into the designs.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin 1996, Nissa moved to Chicago to attend graduate school. Not finding the passion for her MBA program, she decided to pursue a degree in fashion design at International Academy of Design and Technology.

While still a sophomore in the program, she launched her first collection. As a guest designer of Gen Art at the InStyle Magazine show, Nissa’s pieces were instantly picked up by Saks buyers and local Chicago boutiques. Soon after, WWD coined Nissa as “One To Watch” in an upcoming designer story.

After graduating from design school, Nissa shifted gears and moved to NYC to pursue a career in fashion advertising. After being laid off from her position as an Account Director due to the recession, Nissa finally decided to pursue her dream of jewelry design full-time. Start up costs for Nissa Jewelry were generated by Nissa selling her designer wardrobe on Ebay. While heartbreaking to say goodbye to best friends Christian Louboutin, Marc Jacobs and Brian Atwood Nissa was equally excited to finally dedicate her time and energy to her jewelry design. A few years and a few less shoes later, Nissa’s jewelry has been sold in boutiques and department stores throughout the world, like Barney’s, Neiman Marcus, Free People, Anthropologie, Henri Bendel and Shopbop.com.

Since its start, the line has developed a cult following among style bloggers and creative influencers, and remains a go-to brand for celebrity stylists and high end fashion publications.

Nissa has appeared on celebrities including Rihanna, Katy Perry, Carrie Underwood, the Kardashian sisters, Jenner Sisters, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Kate Hudson, Giuliana Rancic and countless others. It has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, InStyle & Stylewatch. It is regularly featured on the Today Show, American Idol and The Voice.
